Hello,
Thanks for stopping by! I'm Miriam, the creator of Calunica, and I love making groovy art and organic clothing.
Nature inspires me very much. I love drawing flowers and cute animals. I love mixing up life's beautiful colors. I love a cloudy sunset and the smell of the forest. Those are the little sparks of joy that make life worth living. I hope that my art inspires people to enjoy the outdoors too, and to protect our wonderful, colorful planet.
Vintage style and folk art also inspire my work. I love the patterns and the colors. I enjoy wandering through museums and thrift shops, and I'll definitely pull over to the side of the road to grab that free mid-century coffee table. When I travel I like to meet artists at local markets and learn about their craft. My wardrobe and my home are full of vintage finds and folk art from around the world, as well as hand knitted sweaters, dresses and even furniture that I’ve made myself. Vintage handmade style is good for the planet, which warms my crafty little hippie heart. I love the natural materials and the attention to detail that old things have. I want that quality in my work too.
I'm a mom, an auntie and a preschool teacher, so kids are a huge inspiration for me as well. It's so fun to create things with them and for them. We like to make up stories and create characters together. Last summer my daughter, niece and I each wrote and illustrated our own picture books, and I love that we can inspire each other. They have influenced a lot of the art that I create for Calunica, and they love wearing the clothes that I make too.
I strive to be as environmentally sustainable as possible by using water-based inks, organic cotton fabric sourced locally, and shipping in recycled paper packaging. I draw my designs by hand using my very own human intelligence and use real photographs and video to show my products. I guess I'm quite sentimental, but I love when things have a unique story and have a positive impact on the world.
This is how I express my creative energy and show my love for people and the planet. I really appreciate all of your support in making my dreams come true!
You can now buy my creations exclusively in my Etsy Shop. There are button-pins, tie-dye t-shirts, and watercolor paintings available now.
I hope you find some unique vintage inspired art and quality pieces of organic clothing that you'll cherish for a long time. From the bottom of my hippie heart, thank you so much for checking out my website and thank you for supporting my moonlit dreams.
